I'll start with the disclosure, because it matters: I'm one of the people behind NewsMasher. This isn't an independent review. It's a plain explanation of what the tool does, what it costs and who it's for — including who it isn't for.
What it does, in one paragraph
You tell NewsMasher the subjects you cover and how often to look. It finds the day's stories about them, scores them, and puts them in a queue. For the ones you pick, it reads the original reporting, writes a news article in your voice, adds an image, tags and a category, publishes it to your site (or holds it for review), and writes posts for your social accounts. You can approve every piece or let parts of it run on their own.
How it works, step by step
- Discover. A Keyword Feed searches the day's regional news for your subjects — daily, twice a day or every other day. An AI editor scores each story out of ten, drops duplicates and remembers what you've already covered.
- Queue. Stories land in the Story Queue with their score, source and link. Skipping one costs nothing.
- Write from the source. It reads the publisher's page, then writes the article using one of your Writing Profiles in Short, Standard or Long. If a page is paywalled or blocked, it writes from the headline and flags the article for your review.
- Dress. A 4:3 feature image (AI-generated, or the publisher's own when it has no watermark or logo), plus tags and a category.
- Publish. To MasherSites or WordPress, or onto the review board.
- Promote. Posts for X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Pinterest, sent through Buffer or a Make/Zapier webhook.
The safety switches
Every Keyword Feed has five switches:
- Write articles automatically
- Publish straight to the site
- Create the social post drafts
- Send the social posts automatically
- Add one of my active ads to each article
All five start off. With them off, nothing happens without you: drafts wait on a review board grouped by site, and you drag them to Approved (publishes on schedule) or Published (goes live now). You turn things on as you come to trust the output, one feed at a time.
Writing Profiles
This is where your voice lives: who you are, how you write and how you structure an article. You can have as many as you like — one per site, brand or client — and a "Draft with AI" option reads your existing site to write a first version for you. Twelve ready-made news profiles are included, such as Straight-News Reporter and Consumer Watchdog, which you can copy and adapt.
What it costs
| Plan | Annual | Monthly | Sites | Feeds | Credits / month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | ~$14/mo | $19/mo | 1 | 10 | 400 |
| Growth | ~$29/mo | $47/mo | 25 | 100 | 1,000 |
| Enterprise | ~$125/mo | $197/mo | Unlimited | Unlimited | 5,000 |
A typical article with a high-quality image and its social posts uses about 38 credits, so Starter covers roughly 10 articles a month, Growth about 26 and Enterprise about 130. Every button shows its credit cost before you click. When your monthly credits run out, your Masher Credits balance takes over — one balance across the whole Masher suite.
There's no free trial. Instead there's a seven-day money-back guarantee: set up one feed, run it for a week, and if you don't have articles you'd stand behind, ask for a refund. Plans cancel any time.
Who it's for
- Niche site owners who want steady, timely content without writing every post themselves.
- Agencies running several client brands, each with its own Writing Profile and site.
- Coaches and creators who want to be seen commenting on their industry's news.
- People with social accounts but no blog — social-only feeds turn stories into posts without needing a site.
Who it isn't for
- Anyone wanting hundreds of articles a day across dozens of sites without reading them. That's the pattern Google's scaled content abuse policy targets, and NewsMasher is deliberately built the other way round.
- Anyone wanting guaranteed rankings. Nobody can honestly promise that, and we don't.
- Evergreen content. NewsMasher is for news. For source-driven or evergreen content, RSSMasher or AIMasher fit better — I've written up how NewsMasher and RSSMasher differ.
Under the bonnet
The writing is done by Anthropic's Claude, and images by OpenAI's image model. Your content isn't used to train models. Also included: a Chrome clipper that sends any story you're reading straight to a feed, an ad desk for placing your own ads in articles, and an internal-link mapper that suggests links from new articles to your older posts.
Should you try it?
If you run a niche site and keeping up with the news is the bit you never get round to, it's worth a week — that's what the guarantee is for. Plans and details are here.
